Dhaka South City Corporation ( DSCC) mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh yesterday said that those who sell adulterated food and later raise questions about the quality of testing, will no longer be able to so as DSCC has built a modern food testing laboratory.

Addressing the inaugural programme of the lab at Dhaka's Bongobazar, Taposh said earlier when the government would impose fine against a company for selling adulterated food, the company would go to court raising questions about food testing quality and many such cases are still pending.

"From now those companies will not get any scope for this, as the lab has all modern testing facilities and it is an internationally accredited lab," he said.

Mayor said they will be able to conduct quality testing of any food in the lab.

This lab has been constructed under a project named "Urban public and environmental health sector development" financed by Asian Development  Bank.

Local government division is supervising the project where seven laboratories at seven city corporations are being constructed.

While delivering his speech as chief guest,  LGRD Minister Tajul Islam said this lab is modern like European facilities and it will ensure quality food for residents of the city.

He said according to medical science, when a person who has a good immunity, diseases cannot get them easily.

"And this immunity depends on nutrition," he said.
