No influence of AL in rice procurement

Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder yesterday told the parliament that there was no influence from Awami League or any presence of syndicate during rice and paddy procurement this year.

In reply to a supplementary question from independent MP Rezaul Karim Bablu (Bogura-7), the minister also claimed the procurement process was the fairest this year, compared to past.

“Upazila Nirbahi Officers and Deputy Commissioners went to their respective areas and got involved in the procurement process,” he said, adding, “I can say unequivocally that there was no partisan influence in the procurement. Rather, the party leaders and activists have co-operated in this regard. There was no syndicate involved.”

He also sought cooperation from MPs in the procurement process.
