No face mask, vuvuzela in Shobhajatra

Baishakhi celebrations must end by 6pm

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan yesterday said programmes to celebrate Pahela Baishakh must end by 6pm and face masks as well as vuvuzelas cannot be used during Mangal Shobhajatra (procession to welcome Bangla new year).

Law enforcement agencies will remain vigilant in this regard, he told journalists after a meeting at his office in Dhaka.

Mostafa Kamal Uddin, secretary to public security division; Inspector General of Police Javed Patwary; chiefs of police units and intelligence agencies were present, reports BSS.

The minister said the meeting decided to ban use of vuvuzelas and masks during Mangal Shobhajatra.

The government has taken tight security measures across the country, including at Ramna Batamul, Rabindra Sarobar and Hatirjheel, for smooth and peaceful celebration of  Pahela Baishakh, UNB adds.
