No decision on automatic promotion of students

The Ministy of Education has not taken any decision to automatically promote students to further their education to the next grade.

"Many media houses are carrying report that the ministry has decided to give students auto promotion without holding any exams for different classes," the ministry's public relation officer Mohammad Abul Khair said yesterday.

"This is a baseless rumour," he said. "The ministry has not taken any decision regarding auto promotion."

 In the wake of coronavirus outbreak, all educational institutions have remained closed since March 17. The closure had been extended till August 6.

Educational activities of four crore students are being hampered due to the pandemic. as HSC examinations have been deferred indefinitely.
