Ninth wage board award within June

Obaidul Quader, convener of the cabinet committee to review the ninth wage board award for journalists and employees of newspapers and news agencies, yesterday said the wage board award will be announced by June.

“The government will hold a meeting with stakeholders on June 12 for implementation of the ninth wage board award for journalists and employees of newspapers and news agencies,” he told reporters at the secretariat after a meeting of the cabinet committee.

Quader said the issue was stalled and that is why the government decided to hold meeting with stakeholders before its announcement.

He said the meeting will be held on June 12.
