Nine muggers held in Savar

Law enforcers in separate drives arrested nine muggers from different areas in Savar yesterday.

Abul Bashar, officer-in-charge (OC) of Detective Branch of police, said police arrested six muggers -- Md Akkas, 38; Sumon, 37; Reshma Begum, 23; Nazmul, 20; Rayhan, 22, and Alim Hawlader, 24 -- from separate areas of Savar and Ashulia in an overnight drive.

The arrestees were connected to several mugging incidents, he said.

They were handed over the Savar Model Police Station after filing a case, the official added.

Meanwhile, a patrol team from Savar Model Police Station arrested three muggers from Savar Bazar bus stand area, said AFM Sayeed, officer-in-charge of the police station.

Two separates cases have been filed against the nine arrestees, he said.

The drive will continue to ensure proper security during Eid, the OC added.
