1000 more illegal gas lines cut in Savar

A mobile court in a drive today disconnected 1,000 more illegal gas connections to households in Kathgora Amtola area of Ashulia in Savar.

Savar upazila administration and zonal office members of Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Ltd in Savar jointly conducted the drive, our Savar correspondent reports quoting a Titas official.

The court removed illegal pipelines across two kilometres and cut off connections to 1,000 households, said Eng Abu Sadad Md Sayem, manager of Titas' Savar zonal office.

Pipes and other materials were also seized during the drive, said the engineer.

"Earlier, we had conducted separate drives in this area and disconnected lines, said Sayem, adding that they had filed a case against some people there over illegal connections in an earlier drive.

Sayem said the executive magistrate could not fine anyone as all of the illegal users went into hiding during the drive. 

When asked about the people behind providing these connections, the engineer said they are investigating the matter.

A case will be filed against the illegal users and people involved behind the illegal gas connections in the area.

Earlier, on September 9, a mobile court disconnected around 1,000 illegal gas connections to households in Johorchanda area of Ashulia.
