Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh today directed all zonal executive officers of the city corporation to properly monitor field-level mosquito control activities and clean-up work of all surface and stormwater drains.

"April is going to end and Eid is nearing and our mobile courts are finding Aedes larvae almost everywhere. It needs to be monitored very closely and you will monitor this so that our initiative does not fail," said DSCC mayor while addressing a virtual meeting with all chief zonal officials and department heads of DSCC yesterday.

DSCC CEO ABM Amin Ullah Nuri moderated the meeting.

The surface drains are under DSCC's regular cleaning activities. It will also appoint workers to clean the stormwater drains which are fed from Wasa, he said.

The DSCC is giving work order to contractors to clean stormwater drains and chief zonal officials will have to monitor the work properly," the mayor added.

"Work is going on centering the upcoming rainy season so that residents of Dhaka city do not face waterlogging problem this time," Taposh added.

"We have to help the contractors so that they can finish their work properly and on time," he said.
