Missing man returns home after 3 months

IT professional Ataur Rahman Shahin, who went missing from the capital’s Tejgaon area on May 2 this year, returned home early yesterday.

“He himself knocked on the door of his Mirpur residence around 1:30am… We are happy that we have got him back alive,” Shahin’s brother-in-law Rabiul Islam told The Daily Star.

Shahin’s family remained tight-lipped about further details. Many other families, whose missing members returned, did the same earlier.

Shahin, 38, an assistant general manager at a private institution in Tejgaon, was reportedly hustled into a microbus around 8:05pm on that day.

Video footages of nearby CCTV cameras showed that he was shoved into a white microbus by some people. Police are yet to identify the abductors or trace the vehicle.

Ataur completed his education in India’s Bangalore, specialising in software engineering. He lives with his family in Dhaka’s Mirpur area.
