Mirpur slum fire victim dies at DMCH

A woman, who was severely burned in the fire at Chalantika slum at Mirpur yesterday, died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) this morning.

Thirty-five-year-old Parveen was admitted to DMCH with 90 percent burns yesterday (January 24), said Inspector Bachchu Mia, in-charge of DMCH police outpost.

She breathed her last around 7:00am at the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital’s burn unit, the official confirmed.

Parveen was among two people who were injured when the fire broke out at the slum around 4:15am yesterday, reducing around 400 shanties to ashes.

Another injured, Shahidul, has been admitted to a private hospital.  

The reason behind the fire is still not known.
