Medical teams at all govt hospitals from tomorrow

The government has formed special medical teams at every state-run hospital across the country, to give emergency treatment to injured people if any violence takes place on polls day.

“Special medical teams have already been formed at all district and upazila level government hospitals to tackle any emergency case on election day,” Prof Abul Kalam Azad, director general of Directorate General of Health Services said yesterday.

The decision came on December 26, after a directive from the Election Commission (EC) in this regard.

Fearing incidents of violence on polls day, the commission directed all government-run hospital to be prepared to provide emergency medical services to the injured, said EC Secretary Helaluddin Ahmed.

“The health ministry has been directed to facilitate emergency medical services for the injured, in case of any violence on polls day,” he said.
