Media centre for nat'l polls opens

Press Information Department yesterday launched a media centre at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Dhaka hotel for providing information to foreign journalists and observers covering the national election.

Talking to reporters, Abdul Malek, secretary to the ministry of information, said as per directive of the EC, the media centre will provide all kinds of information till 12am of December 31 to foreign and local journalists and election observers.

Md Shahidul Haque, foreign affairs secretary, said 200 observers and 50 journalists from overseas are in the country at the moment. Besides, the media centre will provide security and visa-related information to overseas journalists and election observers.

Five officials will work at the media centre round the clock.
