Man sentenced to death for killing wife

A Dhaka court yesterday sentenced a man to death, in a case for killing  his wife over dowry, in the city’s Badda area in 2005.

The court also fined convict Saidur Rahman Milton Tk 50,000, in default of which he would have to suffer three additional months’ rigorous imprisonment.

Dhaka Women and Children  Repression Prevention Tribunal-7 Judge Khademul Kayes passed the order, after examining all case documents and evidence.

According to the case statement, on September 9, 2005, Milton strangled his wife to death following an altercation over dowry, while she was four months pregnant.

After the murder, Milton surrendered to police and confessed to his crime. The victim’s uncle filed a case with Badda Police Station in this regard.
