Man knifed to death

A man was stabbed to death by his son-in-law, allegedly over a family feud in Hathazari of Chattogram yesterday.

The deceased was Abdul Hakim, 50. Police arrested his son-in-law Md Sujan Mia, 26, after locals beat him up and handed him over to police.

The incident took place at Matia Masjid area of Hathazari Sadar at around midnight. Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Belal Uddin of Hathazari Police Station said Sujan and his wife Mirana Begum lived in Hakim’s house.

On Sunday night, the couple had an altercation and at one point Sujan scuffled with his father-in-law, the OC said, quoting locals. Sujan stabbed Hakim with a knife, leaving him critically injured. Hakim was taken to the upazila health complex where he succumbed to his injuries.

The victim’s son filed a murder case, said the OC.
