Man killed under train in Rajbari

A man was killed under a train in Tragore Nawpara area under Baliakandi upazila of Rajbari yesterday, police said.

The deceased was identified as Md Akkas Ali, 45, a three-wheeler driver of Rajdharpur village under the same upazila, said Md Akbor Hossain, officer-in-charge of Rajbari Railway Police Station.

The accident took place when Akkas' vehicle was crossing the rail line in Nawpara area. As there is no level-crossing bar, Akkas could not see the Rajshahi-bound train approaching, the OC said, adding that the train hit Akkas' vehicle, killing him on spot.

A case was filed with Rajbari Railway Police Staion in this regard and the body was handed over to the victim's family, the OC added.
