Man killed over land dispute in Ctg

A 55-year-old man succumbed to his injuries yesterday morning after sustaining injuries in a clash between two groups over a piece of land at Patiya upazila on Friday.

Deceased Md Hashem hailed from Banigram area under Kolgaon union.

Assistant Sub-inspector Alauddin Talukdar of Chattogram Medical College Hospital police outpost said, "Hahsam sustained head injuries from the clash and died at the hospital around 10:30am while undergoing treatment."

Police sources said there had been longstanding enmity between Hashem and his neighbour Habibur Rahman over a piece of land. Around 3pm on Friday, the two and their supporters locked into a clash over the issue.

During the clash, the groups set several houses in the area on fire, leaving three critically injured.

Later, fire fighters doused the blaze and sent the injured to the CMCH for treatment.

OC of Patiya Police Station  Borhan Uddin said Hashem's body was sent to CMCH morgue for autopsy.
