Man held with firearm, ammo in M’singh

Rapid Action Battalion (Rab-14) arrested a man from Mymensingh city’s Badekolpa area last evening.

Rab also seized a pistol with two rounds of bullets and a magazine from Md Ujjal Mahmud, 30, son of Md Abdur Razzaq of Badekolpa.

Acting on a tip-off, a Rab team led by Md Hafizul Islam Babu, senior assistant superintendent of police, raided the area and arrested Ujjal with the arms and ammunition.

In primary interrogation, Ujjal confessed that he worked for influential quarters to grab land and used the pistol to threaten people, said the Rab official.

Later in the day, he was handed over to Kotwali Police Station. A case was lodged with the police station under Arms Act, added the official.
