Man held with currency of 46 countries at Dhaka airport

A man was held with currency of 46 countries at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka this afternoon.

The detainee, Mintu Mia, 26, was detected by Airport Armed Police Battalion (AAPBn) while trying to woo international flyers to buy currencies from him at the driveway leading to the international departures around 3:30 pm.

After searching his body, currency of 46 countries were found in his possession, Alamgir Hossain, additional superintendent of police (operations and media), told The Daily Star.

It is suspected that he somehow stole the currencies from a currency collector, the police official said.
