Man gets life-term for killing wife

A Chittagong court yesterday sentenced a man to life-term imprisonment for killing his wife.

Anwar Ullah, who was sent to jail, was also fined Tk 50,000 in default of which he will have to suffer two more years in jail, said Additional District Public Prosecutor BK Biswas.

According to the prosecution, Anwar beat and strangled his pregnant wife Laila Begum as she did not permit his second marriage in Fatickchhari area on April 22, 2000.
