Kishoreganj road crash kills lawyer

A lawyer was killed on the spot when a bus ran over his motorbike at Ghilakandi Madhyapara in Katiadi upazila of Kishoreganj yesterday.

The victim is Md Shahan Shah, 32, from the upazila.

He was a member of Kishoreganj Bar Association. 

The accident occurred when Shahan was going to a court around 9am, said Nasir Uddin Majumder, officer-in-charge of Katiadi Highway Police Station, quoting locals.

Soon after the accident, locals blocked the road, vandalised the bus and tried to torch it, he added. On information, police and leaders of local transport association rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.

Vehicular movement was suspended on the road for over an hour, said police.

Police seized the bus and arrested its driver Ripon Mia, 25, from Ghilakandi area soon after the incident, they added.

They also recovered Shahan’s body and sent it to Kishoreganj General Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Police lodged a case in this connection.
