Justice Obaidul’s book on Liberation War launched

A book written by a justice on the country's Liberation War is a matter of pride, said Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain.

He made the comment while addressing as chief guest an event, organised at the Supreme Court Judges Corner to launch a book titled "Oborononio Nirmomotar Chitro: Buddhijibi Hottakando O Onnanya" written by Justice Obaidul Hassan, a judge of the High Court Division of the SC, on Thursday.

The chief justice said Justice Obaidul has witnessed the Liberation War. Besides, he was a judge of the International Crimes Tribunal, which inspired and encouraged him to write the book, he added.

Untold atrocities and killing of intellectuals have been focused in his seasoned writing, which will touch readers, the chief justice said. This book will also help youths know about the brutality unleashed by the Pakistani army and their collaborators.

Justice M Enayetur Rahim, a judge of the High Court Division, conducted the event where Attorney General Mahbubey Alam; Dr Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury, chief coordinator of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's Birth Centenary Celebration National Implementation Committee; and Mofidul Haque, a trustee of Liberation War Museum, among others, spoke at the event.
