Justice Abu Sayeed resigned as DU VC on this day in 1971

Today marks the 49th anniversary of Justice Abu Sayeed Chowdhury's resignation as the vice chancellor of Dhaka University, says a press release.

On this day in 1971, he quit his job in protest against the killing of two students by the Pakistani occupation army.

This was the only resignation during the period of Non-Cooperation Movement called by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
