Justice Abdul Jabbar's death anniv today

Today is the 35th death anniversary of Justice Abdul Jabbar Khan, a former speaker of the Pakistan National Assembly, said a press release.

Born in 1901, he was elected as the president of the East Pakistan Muslim League in 1964 after retirement from his judicial service as a High Court justice.

Later, he became the speaker of the Pakistan National Assembly in 1965 and held the position till the promulgation of martial law in 1969.

After retiring from politics in 1969, he engaged himself in social works including education by setting up schools and madrasas.

On this occasion, special prayers will be offered today for the salvation of the departed soul at his grave, a milad mahfil will be held at the residence of his son former minister and lawmaker Rashed Khan Menon, and a discussion and prayer ceremony will be held at his ancestral town of Babuganj in Barishal.
