Journalist Hasan Arefin passes away

Hasan Arefin, managing editor of daily Natun Kagoj and executive committee member of Jatiya Press Club, passed away due to cardiac arrest yesterday. He was 60.

His son Md Ferozul Ferdous said that his father breathed his last at Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital in the capital around 9am, soon after he was taken there from his Mirpur residence with severe chest pain. 

He left behind his wife, daughter, son, colleagues, friends, relatives and admirers to mourn his death.

He was the founding president of Dhaka-based Patuakhali Journalists’ Forum and former organising secretary of Dhaka Reporters’ Unity. He worked for several Bengali dailies and was former chief reporter of daily Bartoman.

His body will be brought to Jatiya Press Club where his namaz-e-janaza will be held after Zohr prayer.

Hasan Arefin will be buried at his family graveyard in Jolisha village in Dumki upazila of Patuakhali district.
