Establishing Labour Rights

ILO to provide all- out support: Anisul

Law Minister Anisul Huq yesterday said cooperation from the International Labour Organization (ILO) is needed in order to fully establish the labour rights in the country.

“The International Labour Organization is ready to provide all cooperation to Bangladesh in order to achieve the standards set by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina-led government for establishing the labour rights,” he said.

The minister said this while talking to reporters after a meeting with ILO Country Director Tuomo Poutiainen at his secretariat office.

He said the ILO country director has informed him that the organisation is ready to provide all cooperation, if needed, to implement the promises Bangladesh has made at ILO conferences, and to carry out the responsibilities it has given to the country.

The ILO delegation will take a decision on this issue after discussing with the labour ministry, the minister said, adding that the country director also informed him about different programmes on the occasion of ILO’s 100th founding anniversary.
