HSC examinee stabbed dead in Savar

An HSC examinee died at a hospital early yesterday after being stabbed by some youths in Savar on Tuesday evening. Three of his friends were also injured during the incident.

The deceased Nayeem Islam, 19, hails from Savar’s Rajashion area.

Nayeem’s friend Md Jummon, who was injured in the incident, narrated that in the evening, the group was chatting in front of a school in Rajashion area. At that time some youths misbehaved with Nayeem and his friends and attacked them.

Locals took the injured to Enam Medical College Hospital where Nayeem died the next day, he added.

Nayeem was scheduled to attend his exam yesterday, said Nayeem’s father Monir Hasan. He wants proper investigation of the incident and immediate arrest of the culprits.

Rubbel Ahmed, a sub-inspector of Savar Model Police Station, said they detained three people for their alleged involvement, and are interrogating them to investigate the incident.

The body was sent to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital in Dhaka for autopsy.
