HSC examinee among five killed in road accidents

Five people were killed and three persons injured in road accidents in four districts during the last three days, according to reports from our correspondents.

In Kishoreganj, a man was killed as a covered truck hit his motorbike on Kishoreganj-Bhairab road in Dariakandi area of Kulairchar upazila on Sunday.

The victim -- Raju Bhuiyan, 30, from Nandail upazila in Mymensingh -- died on the spot, said Parvez Ahmed Selim, officer-in-charge (investigation) of Kulairchar Police Station. 

The body was sent to Kishoreganj General Hospital morgue for autopsy.

In another accident, an HSC examinee was killed as a motorbike he was riding and a human haulier collided head-on in Katiadi area of the district on Saturday.

Tareq Mia, 18, son of late Fazlu Mia, was going to an examination centre, said Md Shafiqul Islam, officer-in-charge of Katiadi Police Station.

He was a candidate from Munshi Abdul Hekim Technical College, he said.

Tareq succumbed to his injuries at Bajitpur Juhurul Islam Medical Hospital, said the OC.

In Faridpur, a schoolteacher was killed and two people were injured as a motorcycle they were riding and another motorbike collided head-on on Majkandi-Bhatiapara road in Baikhir area of Boalmari upazila on Sunday.

The deceased -- Lal Mia, 50, from Sotrokanda village in the upazila -- was an assistant teacher of AZ Pilot High School in Alfadanga upazila.

The injured -- Al-amin, 25, Lal Mia's son; and Monirul Islam, 40, neighbour -- were taken to Boalmari Upazila Health Complex.

In Dinajpur, a 70-year-old man was killed as a truck hit his bicycle in Ghugratoli area of Chirirbandar upazila yesterday.

Md Salimuddin from Telipara village in Chirirbandar died on the spot, said police.

In Jashore, a motorbike and a bicycle collided head-on on Dhalgaon-Basundia road in Kabilpur village of Bagharpara upazila yesterday, killing a man and injuring another.

The identity of the deceased could not be known immediately.
