'Hizb ut-Tahrir operative' arrested in Ctg

The Counter Terrorism (CT) unit of Chattogram Metropolitan Police claimed to have arrested an alleged operative of banned militant outfit of Hizb ut-Tahrir in the city yesterday.

CT officials said they arrested Fahad Bin Solaiman, 18, son of Mohammad Solaiman; in Chawakbazar area. Fahad is an HSC examinee from Govt Muhammad Mohsin College.

Another of the outfit's leader, Sabqat Ahmed, who was arrested on January 7, mentioned Fahad's name during interrogation while under remand, said Inspector Aftab Hossain of CT unit.

“Fahad, along with Sabqat and other Hizbut men, pasted posters in different areas before the 11th national election, asking people to boycott it [the election],” he also said, quoting Sabqat.
