The High Court yesterday summoned the judge of Chapainawabganj's Nari O Shishu Nirjatan Daman Tribunal-1 to appear before it on April 24 for not complying with its order over finishing trial proceedings of a case filed for rape and murder of a woman.

The judge has been asked to appear before the bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman by 10:30am to explain why he failed to finish the trial proceedings and did not response to the HC directive, said Assistant Attorney General (AAG) Md Yousuf Mahmud Morshed.

The HC bench on July 8 last year ordered the tribunal judge to finish the proceedings and submit a report in four months.

The AAG said Chapainawabganj Sadar police recovered the body of one Ayesha Khatun, 20, from a ditch on June 14, 2015. Police filed the case on August 9 that year against unknown persons for raping and killing Ayesha.

On September 15, 2015 police arrested one Nayan Karmakar Rabidas in connection with the case, which is now pending with the tribunal.

During hearing a bail petition filed by Nayan, the HC bench on July 8 last year gave the order.

Nayan recently submitted another bail petition. After its hearing, the HC bench yesterday passed the order, AAG Morshed said.

Advocate Abul Kalam Azad appeared for Nayan.
