Police charged batons on workers of a garment factory, who blocked Satrasta intersection in Dhaka’s Tejgaon Industrial area for around two and a half hours, disrupting traffic movement in the area.

Around few hundred workers of Nasa Garments situated at Begunbari blocked the road at 10:00am in demand of the reinstatement of 66 workers, said Ali Hosen Khan, officer-in-charge (OC) of Tejgaon Industrial Police Station.

The factory administration has fired 66 workers over various irregularities recently.

As the police failed to convince the demonstrators, mostly women, to free the road, they charged batons on workers to disperse them. In response, the demonstrators threw brick chips targeting the law enforcers, injuring around five to six police personnel, the OC said.
