Four die in road accidents

Four people were killed in road accidents across three districts yesterday, report our correspondents.

Rickshaw-van driver Raju Miah, 38, was killed after a lorry hit his vehicle in Colonel Haat area of the port city, said Sub-inspector Md Alauddin of Akbar Shah Police Station. Police seized the lorry but the driver managed to flee, he said.

A truck helper was killed in a road accident in Dhaka’s Armanitola area. His identity could not be confirmed.

Bangshal police said he was sleeping under the vehicle. The truck ran him over while getting out of a bus stand.

Two people, including a schoolboy, were killed when a bus hit a motorbike on Naogaon-Rajshahi Highway in Manda.

The deceased were identified as Kamal Hossain, 40, and Sumon, 12.

Mozaffar Hossain, officer-in-charge of Manda Police Station, said a Naogaon-bound bus from Rajshahi hit the motorbike carrying the victims.
