Four die in Habiganj road crash

Four people -- including Nazmul Islam Kajal, chairperson of Jashore's Bagherpara Upazila Parishad -- were killed after their SUV collided with a truck in Habiganj's Madhabpur upazila yesterday.

Two of the other deceased were identified as Akhi Akhtar, from the capital's Taltola, and Ariful Islam of the upazila. 

The accident took place on Dhaka-Sylhet highway at Noapara in the afternoon, said Officer-in-Charge (OC) Iqbal Hossain of Madhabpur police station.

Two of the five people in the SUV died on the spot. Two later died at Habiganj Sadar Hopital, and one was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for treatment, he said.

Police seized the truck but its driver managed to flee.

A case was also filed in connection with the incident..
