Former MP’s son killed in Dhaka accident

A second year student of a private university was killed in a road accident in the city early yesterday.

The dead was identified as Akib Ahmed Reza, 23, son of Reza Ahmed Bachchu Mollah.

Akib was a BBA second year student at University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh in Dhaka. His father Reza Ahmed is a former lawmaker of Kushtia-1 and also current president of BNP’s Daulatpur upazila unit.

The accident happened when a truck hit a motorbike Akib was riding at about 6:30am.

Sohel Reza, uncle of the victim, told this newspaper that Akib came home before Eid. After celebrating Eid with family, he returned to Dhaka early yesterday on a night coach.

But Akib left a bag in the bus and was going to the bus counter in the city’s Kalyanpur area, riding his motorbike.

“A truck hit him on a side road of Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital. Akib died on the spot,” said Sohel Reza.

Akib’s body was taken to Daulatpur in the afternoon via a helicopter.
