Five killed in road accidents in 3 districts

Three separate motorbike-related accidents killed three people in Kishoreganj Mymensingh, and Noakhali districts yesterday, while another two died in another road crash in Noakhali. Among the deceased were a seven-year-old boy and a police constable, reported our correspondents.

In Kishoreganj, seven-year-old Jihad Hossain was killed by a motorbike at Madhya Manderkandi area on Mothkhola-Katiadi road in Pakundia upazila yesterday morning.

He was a first-grader at Madhya Manderkandi Govt Primary School.

The accident occurred when a motorbike hit Jihad while he was crossing the road near his house around 10am, quoting locals, Officer-in-Charge of Pakundia Police Station Md Mofizur Rahman told our Mymensingh correspondent.

Critically injured, he was rushed to Pakundia Upazila Health Complex where doctors declared him dead.

Locals caught the biker, Jasim Uddin (20) and his accomplice, Rabbi (13) and handed them over to the police. A case was lodged with the police station, the OC added.

In Gopalganj, two people including a police officer were killed and two were injured in a motorbike accident on Kotalipara-Rajor road at Debgram area under Kotalipara upazila yesterday.

The deceased are Md Emdadul Haque (24) and Ronjit Biswas (27). Emdadul was a constable of Kashiani Police Station, reported our Faridpur correspondent.

Quoting locals, Sheikh Lutfar Rahman, officer-in-charge of Kotalipara Police Station said, “The accident occurred when two motorbikes collided head-on at Debgram area. Emdadul and Ronjit died on the spot and two other motorbike passengers were injured. The injured have been taken to Gopalganj General Hospital.”

In Noakhali, three people were  killed and five were injured in separate accidents in Subarnachar and Begumganj upazilas yesterday, reported our correspondent from Noakhali.

In another motorcycle accident, Meheraj Hossain (22) was killed after a sand-laden truck hit his motorbike on Gayeshpur area in Begumganj, OC Harun-ur-Rashid of Begumganj Police Station said.

In Subarnachar, Md Rasel (29) and Noman Hossain (34) died after a pick-up van crushed the auto-rickshaw carrying them.

Critically injured by the accident, Rasel and Noman were taken to Subarnachar Upazila Health Complex, where duty doctors declared them dead, said OC Shahed Uddin of Char Jobbar police.
