Fire guts valuables of 3 houses, 6 shops

A fire gutted valuables of three houses and six shops in Chattogram city's Railway Colony area early yesterday.

The fire originated from an electric short circuit in a house at the colony and it spread to the adjacent houses and shops around 3:00am, said Jasim Uddin, assistant director of Fire Service and Civil Defence, Chattogram.

On information, firefighters rushed to spot and managed to douse the blaze around 5:15am.

The loss caused by the fire was estimated at Tk 5 lakh, he said.
