Ballot units unharmed by fire at EC building

No important documents were harmed in the fire that broke out at the Election Commission building in Dhaka’s Agargaon area early today.

Only some cables and air conditions were damaged in the fire that originated on the ground floor of the building around 11:06pm, Brig Gen Md Saidul Islam, director general of National Identity Registration sector, told reporters today.   

The fire was brought under control by 12 units of firefighters after over an hour of efforts around 12:25am.
