Expel students enrolled through fraudulence

Demands human chain at DU

A group of Dhaka University (DU) students yesterday formed a human chain at the base of Aparajeyo Bangla on campus, demanding expulsion of students who enrolled into DU through fraudulent process and their aides from the university.

Ducsu vice-president Nurul Haque Nur and social service affairs secretary Akhtar Hossen took part in the human chain, organised under the banner of "General Students of Dhaka University".

Speaking at the programme, Nur said those who are involved with the fraud syndicate and those who enrol into the university with the help of said syndicate must be expelled from DU.

He demanded cancelling certificates of the frauds who have already graduated and revealing their identities in newspapers so that no one dares to seek admission through dubious means.

The Ducsu VP alleged that although DU's admission test questions have been leaked since 2014-2015 session, the administration had only issued “irresponsible statement” to hide their failure and did not take any effective measures.

“None of the university's probe committees could find the incident of question paper leak, but journalists did. The administration was also not admitting the question paper leak last year but was compelled to hold re-examination, facing students' protest,” added Nur.

Students later brought out a procession to the vice-chancellor's office and submitted a memorandum to the VC to press home their demands.
