Promoting Anti-plastic Policy
EU delegation's cleaning drive at Hatirjheel
Staff Correspondent
A delegation of the European Union yesterday organised a token clean-up operation at Hatirjheel Lake in Dhaka to promote EU's anti-plastic policy.
Around 40 members of Bangladesh Poribesh Andolon (BAPA) joined the delegation, led by Ambassador Rensje Teerink, during the cleaning drive.
In the face of a global concern for plastic pollution, the EU has taken a strong anti-plastic stance. As its part it initiated various measures to discourage plastic use not just in the EU but in partner countries.
Hatirjheel is considered a place where people can breath fresh air. But this beautiful lake is littered with plastic and other garbage. The cleaning drive was an effort to generate awareness to protect the lake from pollution.
