2 girls including Eden college student die of dengue fever

Two girls, including a student of Eden Women College, died of dengue fever in Dhaka this afternoon. 

Fatema Akater Shanta, 20, breathed her last at Japan-Bangladesh Friendship Hospital in Dhaka around 4:50pm, Murad Hossain, admin officer of the hospital, told The Daily Star.

She was a second-year student of Accounting Department of Eden Women College, Murad said.

Shanta was diagnosed with dengue fever seven days ago and staying at her residence after her condition was improved. Yesterday, she was admitted to the intensive care unit of the hospital as her condition deteriorated suddenly, said Nasir Uddin, uncle of the victim.

However, victim’s father Shamsuddin Mia, 48, and her brother Tanvir, 15, a class-VIII student are treating at a hospital with Dengue fever in Shyamoli, he added.  

Besides, a young girl died of dengue fever during treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital this afternoon.

Dipali Akhter, 23, hailing from Monohardi upazila of Narsingdi, was declared dead at the hospital around 3:30pm, Nasir Uddin, assistant director (admin) of the DMCH told The Daily Star.

The girl was admitted to the hospital three days earlier after she was diagnosed with dengue fever.
