Ducsu Polls: VC appoints returning officer, advisory body

Professor Dr SM Mahfuzur Rahman of International Business department of Dhaka University has been appointed as Chief Returning Officer to conduct the Dhaka University Central Students Union (Ducsu) polls.

DU Vice Chancellor Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman made the appointment in line with Section 8 of the existing Ducsu constitution, reads a press release of the university.

The VC also formed a 15-member advisory cell.

The last Ducsu election was held in 1990. The Supreme Court (SC) order delivered on January 6, 2019 has made it mandatory to hold the election.

On September 15 last year, after a meeting with representatives of student organisations, the DU VC said that Ducsu polls might be held by March this year.
