DSCC dismisses 4 mosquito control workers for illegally selling insecticide

Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) today dismissed four mosquito control workers for illegally selling adulticide that are used in anti-mosquito drive.

DSCC also filed a case against the shop owner Abdul Majud Sikder who purchased the insecticide from the mosquito control workers, says a press release.

The no-work, no-pay based four workers are Uzzal Siddiqui, Sujan Miah, Md Hafizul Islam and Juwell.

These workers on June 9 took 200 litres adulticide from zone-5 zonal executive officer to deliver it to the mosquito councilor's office through supervisors or his representatives for use in anti-mosquito drive. But they sold it to Messer's Bhai Bhai Agency at Sayedabad.

On information mosquito supervisor Md Monirul Islam and health inspector went to the shop and found the adulticide.

They seized two drums having 200 litres in each, eight containers of 30 litres, and one gallon of 20 litre adulticide from a nearby go-down of the shop, the release added.
