Driver of microbus that ran over mountaineer Reshma placed on remand

A Dhaka court today placed Md Nayem, driver of the microbus that ran over and killed young mountaineer Reshma Nahar Ratna on August 7, on a two-day remand.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Millat Hossain passed the order after Sub-Inspector Mubarak Ali of Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station, also investigation officer of the case, produced Nayem before the court with a five-day remand prayer.

Police yesterday arrested Md Nayem (27) from Kafrul's Ibrahimpur area in the capital and seized the black HiAce microbus.

On August 7, Reshma was killed after the microbus hit her bicycle on Lake Road near the Jatiya Sangsad in the capital.

Pedestrians took her to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital where doctors declared her dead.

Later, a case was filed with Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station in this connection.
