DMP’s security measures ahead of Christmas Day

Dhaka Metropolitan Police has taken up security measures for all the churches in Dhaka ahead of the "Christmas Day" to be celebrated on December 25.

The security plans have been taken dividing all the churches in the capital into three categories --big, medium and small -- on Christmas day, said a press release of DMP.

The DMP has also issued some security instructions to ensure that devotees can travel to churches, safely on the Christmas day and requested all concerned to comply with the security instructions.

As per the plan, the sufficient number of plainclothes and uniformed policemen will be deployed for the security of each church. The programme venues will be swept by Dog Squad.

Security instructions:

--Visitors will be allowed to enter churches through the archway and searched manually with a metal detector

--Devotees and visitors will not be allowed to carry handbags, trolley bags, large vanity bags, packets, combustibles, knives, weapons, scissors, harmful liquids, blades, fireboxes and gaslights into the churches for the sake of safety.

--The church authorities have been requested to set up adequate number of CCTV cameras in each church to enhance security

--Church authorities have to appoint their own volunteers with armoured bands in each church. The volunteers will assist the police during the search. Women volunteers will search women visitors

--Inform police or make an emergency call at 999 if any suspicious person or object is found in the church and its vicinity

--Music in open space or on the rooftop, blowing fireworks and DJ party will be completely forbidden on the day
