DIU celebrates 19th anniversary

Daffodil International University (DIU) celebrated its 19th founding anniversary by hosting virtual events over the last two days, a press release said.

The celebration was inaugurated on Sunday through a discussion session titled 'Our University in Our Feelings'. Another programme, titled 'Our University', was held in the afternoon, participated by all the clubs of the university.

Two more discussion sessions, titled 'World Wide Daffodilian' and 'Daffodil Alumni -- Then and Now' were hosted yesterday. The first one was hosted primarily with the participation of international students, while the latter featured members of its alumni, the press release said.

Among others, the sessions were attended by Dr Md Sabur Khan, Chairman, Board of Trustees; Professor M Lutfar Rahman, Vice Chancellor of DIU; Dr SM Mahbub-Ul-Haque Majumder, Pro Vice Chancellor and more.

While addressing yesterday's programme, Sabur Khan said "The university has achieved a lot since its founding. The green campus, the huge infrastructure, the halls, the cafeteria, the library, the innovation lab, and placement in international rankings have all been made possible due to the team work of teachers, students and dedicated staff."

Vice-Chancellor Dr Lutfar Rahman said, "Daffodil International University started its journey in a rented building 18 years ago. The university now has its own campus covering more than 150 acres. All this has been possible due to the combined effort of all."

DIU had started its journey on 24 January, 2002 with only 67 students, which now stands at more than 20,000. The university has agreements with 300 universities across the world and boasts the highest number of foreign students among all the universities in the country.

It has also received awards such as the World Quality Commitment Award, Global Amity Award, Best Business School Award in Asia and more, the press release said.
