Dhk-Tangail Highway: Human chain demands footbridge

Several hundred people of Jamurki union formed a human chain beside Dhaka-Tangail highway at Pakulla Bus Stand in Mirzapur upazila yesterday, demanding construction of a footbridge in the area.

They organised the programme from 11am to 12pm, halting traffic movement, locals said.

The campaigners left the place after a police team went to the spot and assured them of relaying their demand to the authorities.

SM Abu Matin, who led the programme, said students and residents of seventeen nearby villages cross the busy highway every day risking their lives.
