Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sayeed Khokon today said buses will operate in a circular route in Dhanmondi, New Market and Azimpur from March 26.

Twenty to 25 BRTC buses, some of which will be air conditioned, will operate in this route which will have 36 stoppage in total, he said at a press briefing at Nagar Bhaban in the capital after a meeting regarding the issue.

In every stoppage, the buses will be available every five minutes and the buses will stop at every stoppage for a certain amount of time.

Old and unfit buses will be removed from this route, he said.

A number of accidents happen as the drivers and helpers are lacking in skill. To overcome this problem, Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk) will allot land to Dhaka Transport Coordination Authority (DTCA) for training of drivers and helpers.

Answering to a query about the materialisation of other two circular bus routes in Uttara and Motijheel the mayor said this is a gradual process. The concerned authorities will hold meetings on this issue in future.
