Delwar new envoy to South Korea, Abida to Mexico

Bangladesh has appointed Md Delwar Hossain, director general of Myanmar wing at the foreign ministry, as the next ambassador to South Korea.

Abida Islam, who is now the Bangladesh ambassador to Korea, has been appointed as ambassador to Mexico, according to a statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs yesterday.

Delwar Hossain is a career foreign service officer belonging to the 17th batch of Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) Foreign Affairs cadre. He served in various capacities in Bangladesh Missions in Paris, Tripoli, Thimphu and Beijing in his diplomatic career. At the foreign ministry, he worked for multiple wings in different capacities.

He obtained his MBA from IBA, Dhaka University and BSc-in-Mechanical Engineering from Khulna University of Engineering and Technology. He also earned a diploma in International Relations from the International Institute of Public Administration in Paris, France.

Abida Islam, the next ambassador of Korea, will also be concurrently accredited to Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guatemala, and Honduras.

She is a career foreign service officer who belongs to the 15th batch of the Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) Foreign Affairs cadre. She served in various capacities in Bangladesh missions in London, Colombo, Brussels, and Kolkata in her diplomatic career. At the headquarters, she worked in multiple wings in different capacities.
