Delhi violence condemned

Hindu Buddhist Christian Oikya Parishad urges India to maintain peace

Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Oikya Parishad has expressed its concern and condemnation over the recent violence in New Delhi, India.

The condemnation came during the council's standing committee meeting at its office, said a press release yesterday.

The participants urged the government of India and its people to maintain peace, harmony and security of the minority groups in line with the country's non-communal and democratic values, said the council's General Secretary Rana Dasgupta.

Its leaders said although seven decades already passed after the Indian subcontinent divided on religion, problems relating to communalism are still getting worse and complicated more and more in the region.

This is sad and worrying, they said during the meeting.

With Dr Neem Chandra Bhowmik in the chair, the meeting was also addressed, among others, by Subrata Chowdhury and Kajal Debnath.
