Debendra Nath's death anniversary observed

The 20th death anniversary of great revolutionary activist Debendra Nath Ghosh, popularly known as Biplobi Deben Ghosh, was observed in Barishal city yesterday.

On the occasion, Biplobi Deben Ghosh Smriti Rokkha Committee organised various programmes including religious rituals, and floral tributes at his cremation ground, distributing blankets among the destitute and a discussion meeting in Barishal city.

Md Yousuf Kalu, a Language Movement veteran, presided over the discussion held at Barishal Reporters Unity auditorium.

Born on April 22, 1890, Ghosh was imprisoned for a total of 27 years for protesting against colonialists, imperialist and autocrats in the British and Pakistani periods and afterwards.
