Cumilla Arson Case: HC extends Khaleda's bail

The High Court yesterday extended its earlier order that granted bail to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in connection with a case filed for torching a vehicle in Cumilla's Chauddagram in 2015.

The extension will be in force until disposal of the case in the trial court concerned. The bench of Justice AKM Asaduzzaman and Justice SM Mozibur Rahman passed the order after hearing an appeal, said Barrister AKM Ehsanur Rahman, a lawyer for Khaleda. However, she cannot get released from jail as she is shown arrested in four other cases, he added.

The case was filed after a vehicle was torched during an anti-government agitation in February 2015.

The HC granted six-month bail to Khaleda in the case on August 6 last year.
